Mr. Beckwith founded Automation Consultants Incorporated in 1983, a firm specializing in the application of computers to business.  Automation Consultants installs accounting and information systems for businesses throughout New Mexico.  The company has also designed software systems for education, manufacturing, and self-contained homes.

Previously, working for System Development Corporation, Mr. Beckwith was a member of the Integrated Computer Center (ICC) design team at the Air Force Weapons Laboratory.  He designed command language, user interface, user access, and task control subsystems for the ICC supercomputer network.  He also managed the development of the on-line network accounting and billing system for the Computer Center, subsequently adopted nationwide.

As head systems programmer for The Dikewood Corporation in the 1970s, Mr. Beckwith was responsible for a Burroughs installation running a nationwide network.  He designed and implemented a major part of Dikewood's successful Medicaid claims processing system and designed their Medicare claims processing system.

Prior to 1970, Mr. Beckwith led a four-man team modeling EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) phenomena.  This work required expertise in physics, numerical analysis, scientific computer programming, and computer graphics.

Mr. Beckwith received his Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and physics from the University of New Mexico, and did graduate work in computer networks.  He holds the Certified Computing Professional (CCP) designation with specializations in Systems Programming, Procedural Programming, and Management.  From 1985 to 1993 he served in various roles on Councils of the Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals (ICCP), including Test Manager for Software Engineering, for Communications, and for Systems Programming.

Mr. Beckwith was active in the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) for many years.  He contributed to the 1982 Glossary of Software Engineering Terminology for IEEE Project 729.  He has been included in Who's Who in the Computer Industry, Who's Who of American Business Leaders, and the Who's Who Worldwide Registry, both Sterling and Platinum Editions.
