Horizons Light Manufacturing for Microsoft Dynamics™ GP and Microsoft Dynamics™ GP Customers

Horizon Light Manufacturing (HLM) from Horizons International is compatible with Microsoft Dynamics™ GP.

Microsoft Dynamics™ GP is a global provider of enterprise eBusiness solutions for the midmarket. Their internet-enabled solutions are backed by award winning support services and a comprehensive suite of customization tools.

Horizons Light Manufacturing is written in the same programming language as Microsoft Dynamics™ GP (Dexterity) for seamless integration and the same look and feel as Microsoft Dynamics™ GP. All the same icons, keystroke short cuts, zooming and drill-down capabilities make HLM feel and act like Microsoft Dynamics™ GP.

Special buttons let you zoom to information sources both in HLM and in Microsoft Dynamics™ GP. Drill-down to both HLM and Microsoft Dynamics™ GP setups. As with Microsoft Dynamics™ GP, Modifier can be used to alter the look of the screens. Moreover, Access (by Microsoft), Report Writer (by Microsoft Dynamics™ GP) and Crystal Reports (by Seagate) can be used to modify and enhance the plethora of reports available or create new ones. Also, Explorer (coming soon for HLM) will allow sorting and restructing of the manufacturing data for easy data management.

True integration accesses Microsoft Dynamics™ GP Inventory, Sales Order Processing, and Purchase Order modules. Both Microsoft Dynamics™ GP and the advanced Purchase Order modules are supported. Posting to the General Ledger is as effortless as if you were only working in Microsoft Dynamics™ GP.

Horizons developed this product with the small to medium sized company in mind; true manufacturers, but not in need of high-end manufacturing software. Yet, the application can do most of what the high-end packages are able to accomplish.

Both Discreet and Process manufacturing can be accommodated. Present users include beverage and food manufacturers along with mechanical, and electronics industries, and an entire myriad of specialty manufacturers such as jewelry and art frames.

Small wonder then that more and more Microsoft Dynamics™ GP Partners are having their clients fill out the Horizons Needs Analysis and evaluating with the Horizons staff the "fit" of this remarkably flexible software.

Our Knight on horseback logo was not chosen lightly. The Knight in Shining Armor is a symbol of uncompromising integrity and dedication to meeting the challenge of excellence. The stability of our products and the relationship we maintain with the Microsoft Dynamics™ GP Partners and their customers attests to our success.

Setup

  • When Microsoft Dynamics™ GP is set up, so is Horizons.
  • Unlimited Preset Notes with Note ID's can be setup. These Note ID's can then be applied to components in multiples where they can be included in the 'travelers' on the floor for BOM, ECO and Router.

Utilities

  • Import BOMs from a spreadsheet.
  • Alter, in mass, Inventory set-ups in Microsoft Dynamics™ GP, such as Decimal, Price Schedule, and Serial # Tracking, etc..
  • Release batches stuck in posting.
  • Perform Integrity checks, Rebuild, Shrink, and Check Links in HLM File Maintenance, all at the same time.

Bill Of Materials

• Import Bills of Material (BOM) with HLM importing utility. Simply follow the easy instructions on how to set up your items on a spreadsheet. Of course, you can manually input BOMs.
• BOMs can be copied or altered and those changes applied to existing Work Orders.
• Finished Goods can be deleted in mass.
• Components can be copied, replaced added or deleted in mass.
• No limit on levels.
• Scrap percent for anticipated loss can be input for each component and used with WIP
• Components used in which BOMs or 'Where Used' inquiry.
• Labor and Overhead Standards can be set up by Finished Good or by Component.
• 'Alternates' can be prioritized and selected for item substitutions when using WIP
• Overage items can be moved to the floor, one time, and used in multiple builds without doing WIP transfers.
• Manufacturer Part Numbers can be assigned by BOM, or component item, or by both.
• Rev and ECO numbers can be input in Item Maintenance and flow into fields here.
• BOMs can be set as 'Make', 'Buy' or 'None' to automate Production and Material Requirements Planning.
• 'Reverse' BOM; where one item creates many finished goods.
• Unlimited text can be entered per component using the 'Reference Designator' field.
• GL Accounts and IV Locations can be specified per component and/or BOM.
• Time Estimates can now be setup per BOM to default actual on the Production Work Order - where these estimates can be overridden.

Engineering Change Orders

• Both ECO (12 char.) & Revision #s (15 char.) can be alphanumeric and will increment automatically.
• Revision #s can be formatted to have decimal sub numbers.
• Hardware Disposition IDs and descriptions can be setup to include on Revisions and to print on the Impact Report
• Microsoft Dynamics™ GP Users can be setup as Approvers. Persons approving can be required.
• User Defined 'Priorities' can be setup and chosen when initiating an ECO.
• Each ECO has a 50 char. description and an unlimited text note field to explain the changes. Also, there is the traditional note icon with unlimited text and the 'paper clip' to attach OLE objects for each ECO.
• Each ECO can have a 12 char. 'Change Request #' as well allowing dashes, slashes and decimals in the format.
• All Parents can be set to change automatically when initiating an ECO with a component or subassembly.

Production Entry

• Zoom to the supporting BOM, alter it, and optionally bring those changes forward in existing Work Orders.
• Post partially completed work orders.
• Automatically sequence partial postings.
• Auto-Create work orders from sales orders.
• Auto-Create Work Orders can produce many Work Orders from one Blanket Sales Order using each line's individual 'Required Date' for each Work Order.
• Finished Good items can be produced one level at a time, all levels at once, or a mix of both.
• Finished Goods can be distributed to as many locations as desired.
• Reverse production can be selected. Many Finished Goods flow from a Component as in a tree to lumber.
• Custom work orders can be created without a BOM.
• Work Orders can be 'Disassembled' in case of error.
• Customer and Sales Order Numbers can be attached to a specific Work Order.
• Quickly view Labor and Overhead charges with the 'Labor' and 'OH' buttons.
• The user defined 'Status' window indicates to what stage the production has progressed.
• Compile Standard Labor and Overhead. Input or import actual Labor and Overhead, or machine time, or other amounts to add to the cost of the finished item, or use on a comparison basis.
Work In Process (WIP)
• The Finals button on the Production screen allows adjustments to material goods prior to posting.
• Work orders can be altered and customized. Items can be added, subtracted, substituted, or deleted.
• Alternate items can be selected.
• WIP transfers between locations and work centers can be tracked in the GL via the 'Transfer Audit' report.
• Unanticipated loss of quantity of a component item can be posted to the scrap account.
• Unacceptable finished goods can be sent to the 'Rejected' account.
• Excess component stock can be posted back to the component inventory location.

Reverse Production

Inventory Gross Requirements

• Simple to use forecasting tool.
• 'What If' forecasts for quantities of finished goods or subassemblies can be entered and will then 'Redisplay' component demand
• Clear viewing of component demand from the main 'Gross Requirements' screen.
• Drill downs to detailed Quantities information, 'Where Used' information and Bill of Materials, from 'Gross Requirements'.
• Easy viewing and selecting of parent items from the 'Print' option.
• Parent Items can be selected randomly simply by marking or not marking the check box.

Material Requirements Planning (MRP)

• Scheduling compiles quantities from Sales Order, Invoicing, IV Transactions, Purchase Order and Production Entry to show stock levels as of the Forecast, SOP or Work Order date.
• Work Orders can be added and posted to offset forecast/sales quantities.
• New Forecasts can be created by manual entry.
• Forecasts can be general or specifically tied to a client. Orders for that client will decrement their specific forecast.
• Requirements are based on selected Sales Orders and Forecasts or Work Orders.
• Components can be compiled from all levels of the finished good BOM or from Production.
• Any components below a user defined quantity or that are manually selected can be posted to Purchase Order.
• Requirements can use lead times to schedule purchase orders.
• Multiple locations can be used in the process of determining quantities on hand, allocated, etc.. .
• Minimum Vendors levels and reorder points can be used in the compilation.

Serial and Lot Tracking

  • Auto-selects Numbers option can be overridden.
  • Auto-increment or import the serial numbers generated by your own system into HLM or Microsoft Dynamics™ GP transaction entry.
  • Variable length lot tracking per item.
  • Inquire or print reports by Serial and Item Number, Work Order Number or Customer.
  • Tie Component Serial / Lot numbers to a Finished Good Serial / Lot number.
  • Traceable for food and medical manufacturers.
