2003-09-11 Microsoft has
issued a CRITICAL SECURITY BULLETIN detailing three critical vulnerabilities in
the Windows operating system and provides instructions for applying the
corresponding patch. While there is currently no active exploit of this
vulnerability, if successfully exploited, these vulnerabilities would allow an
attacker to gain control of the target system. For the most current
information on affected systems and recommended remediation steps, please read
the bulletin posted at:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-039.asp.
2003-07-14 Round 5 Tax
Update is now available (data change). This update includes the following
changes:

- Connecticut
- New York
2003-06-30 Important
Reminder for non-SQL customers: Tax Updates for non-SQL platforms (c-tree and
PSQL) will be discontinued March 31, 2004. Updates supporting state or federal
rate or rule changes will be issued after this date ONLY for Microsoft Dynamics™ GP
Edition on SQL Server or Microsoft Dynamics™ GP Standard on the Microsoft SQL Server
Desktop Edition. Example: if a similar Federal Tax Rate change were to be needed
at this time next year, only users on SQL or MSDE databases would receive the
changes.
May 15, 2003 Everything is go for
upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics™ GP 7.5. This is the first release to use the Microsoft Dynamics™ GP name instead of Dynamics™ or eEnterprise. 7.5 also features
significant advances in the inventory area. Download the
list of enhancements
(2.2MB). Please call 505-265-2374 if
you have questions or would like to discuss upgrading.
We encourage you to advance to Microsoft SQL because it provides better
security and reliability than Pervasive or C-tree, and puts you in position for
future enhancements. For your convenience, here is a document giving the
hardware requirements for the MSDE
version and one for the Microsoft SQL
version of Microsoft Dynamics™ GP 7.5.
April 30, 2003 Automation
Consultants has now earned three Microsoft certifications in Customer
Relationship Management.
2003-04-13 Microsoft has announced that it will discontinue
support for Microsoft Dynamics™ GP on the Pervasive and C-tree databases at the end of
2004. This is good because the new database, Microsoft SQL, is a big
improvement. You should have received their announcements last month with
special offers to upgrade.
We hope you welcome this news. It is a good opportunity to improve the
reliability of your Microsoft Dynamics™ GP business management system and prepare for the
future.
January 30, 2003 Microsoft
has released their new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
It is nicely
integrated with Outlook and, of course, Microsoft Dynamics™ GP, as is the
entire Microsoft Office Suite.
The good folks at Microsoft Dynamics™ GP in Fargo now refer to their company as Microsoft Business Solutions.
Moreover, the names Dynamics™ and eEnterprise are being replaced by the single
sentimental favorite "Microsoft Dynamics™ GP". The pricing structure for the Microsoft Dynamics™ GP product has been overhauled too, opening many new possibilities.
Microsoft Dynamics™ GP Release 7.0 is now available. If you would like
information about this new release, please call us at 505-265-2374.
The Automation
Consultants balloon placed FIRST in the long-jump competition at
the 2002 Fiesta. The Fiesta limited the number
of entries to 750 balloons. We'll be there next year too, expecting
to do even better! There may be opportunities for free rides for our
existing clients, so please stay in touch. Take a close look at the
balloon we sponsored. Take a look at the
Balloon Fiesta web site too, at www.balloonfiesta.com.
Microsoft Dynamics™ GP now offers you several cost-effective ways to market and sell
your products over the Internet, with minimal investment and support
requirements.
After swallowing most of the competition over the past several years, Microsoft Dynamics™ GP itself
was swallowed, becoming a division of Microsoft on April 4, 2001.
This division, now known as Microsoft Business Solutions, continues to acquire
its competitors, such as Navision. This is great news for all of our
clients and for Automation Consultants. For what it means to you, please
call us at 505-265-2374.
Release
7.0 of Project Accounting is now available. It contains several useful new
features, including Change Orders and integration with Microsoft Project 2002. We have been
using it here at Automation Consultants, reviewing its
features and appreciating the progress. Release
6.0 service patches for Project
Accounting are also available. These include web-based entry of
time worked and expenses, overhead calculations which work for government
contractors, and many other improvements. For more information, please submit a
request via our Project Accounting page.
Microsoft Dynamics™ GP
Accounting is not being sold anymore. If
you still depend on GPA, it is time to make careful plans to change.
Please contact us. Microsoft Dynamics™ GP support for GPA has not been available
since February 28, 2002. By the way, Microsoft Small Business Manager is
now available at a much lower price point than Microsoft Dynamics™ GP.
The transition from GPA to Microsoft Dynamics™ GP was a testimony to the
quality and savvy of the Microsoft Dynamics™ GP organization. For years GPA users
have been migrating from the best of the DOS world, to the dominant accounting
software of the Windows world ... a triumph of progress.
Curious about converting to Microsoft SQL?
Microsoft Dynamics™ GP has a web-page on CustomerSource devoted to this
important issue. If you would like
an explanation of the differences between Microsoft SQL, c-tree, Pervasive SQL
2000, and Btrieve,
please call us at 505-265-2374.

You can call us at 505-265-2374, or e-mail us at acinc@acinm.com
with any question or comments you may have. Remember that we are dedicated
to helping you make the most of your Microsoft Dynamics™ GP systems and love to hear from
you.
